Yummy!

Mmmm... Fall is FINALLY in the air this morning, and it was so incredibly, sensually delightful to walk in the early morning chill, feeling the goose bumps rise eagerly in response to the lower temperature. We lingered outside for longer than usual, just enjoying the surprisingly cooler air, the promise of Fall lurking behind each and every breath of air.

It's coming on my absolute favorite time of year... the feelings, the scents, the yearnings, the sense of peace and harmony and life slowing down. I came inside, shut off the air conditioning for the first time in months and hurriedly went through the house opening the windows. Ah, fresh, cool air! It is indeed a breath of fresh air!

I've been stuck inside for far too long, trapped by the eternal, infernal heat and smothering dryness of summer here in the deep south. I'm craving the open air like a wild animal gasping for breath. I need to feel the rush of the wind, the crisp crackle of leaves beneath my feet; I need to free my soul, for it longs to roam wild and free, unchained, unshackled.

My spirit is restless, wanting more, getting just a taste of the magic this morning, but knowing that it will come to an end all too soon, as the temperature rises and we are forced once again to retreat into our air-conditioned, secluded, isolated world of reality. This is frustrating for me, because I always want things to happen, to change, in an instant, but somehow I just know in my heart that if I approach it differently this time, if I keep myself open and accepting, maybe, just maybe, I can catch the elusive contentment that my soul requires.

I'll leave you with a thought, a quote, a few words to ponder. And I'll go back to relishing the yummy sensation of the fresh air blowing through the open window!

"The major problems in the world are the result of the difference between how nature works and the way people think," by Gregory Bateson.

Definitely depends where yo live. We now have the heat on, to remove the dampness. Light coats have replaced the tee-shirts and shorts.
Happy Birthday, or was that a day or two ago.

i am a winter person with fall following as my second fav season...i only wish i lived in an area that actually had a fall...the only thing hinting to us that summer is over is the gusting winds that we get in vegas every fall and spring...there are no leaves changing or chill in the air(besides the annoying wind)...enjoy the season for me too...i will live vicariously through you :)

This post was wonderfully written! And I agree with you, it's nice to see the fall weather arrive. I just can't say it as well as you can.

Lovely post Tiggs.

I don't mind Autumn but I hate the winter, I don't like to be cold. I think if we had more of a summer in the UK I would appreciate the change of seasons.

I've already turned the heating on.

Love.

Mike - Oooh, I do so envy you! At least until the real chill comes! Thanks for the birthday wishes! They are welcome and thoughtful anytime, whether belated or otherwise! Big hugs!

Spnk MeRed - I've never been to Vegas, but frankly have absolutely no interest in ever going... and you've only proven my point with your comment, lol! Feel free to enjoy what very little seasonal change we have here with me virtually! It's not enough of a change for me, either, but it will have to do for now!

Spanky - I can always count on you to be ever so kind and complimenting! Biggest hugs to you and the misses, and of course a snuggle for Spot!

Ronnie - We are the exact opposite, with summer being endless and horrid! This is one of the things I love most about blogging is getting such different perspectives!

Love and hugs to all!

Fall is my favorite time of the year too (well in the Northern hemisphere anyway) because it's Halloween time! :-D My absolute favorite holiday. Of course down here I have an advantage. I have Halloween in October and Samhain in April. Twice the fun!
